Speaking openly
We are committed to creating a culture in which everyone feels free to express their concerns safely and confidentially. This includes personnel, contractors, managers and agents working in our offices and industrial sites, as well as third parties such as customers, suppliers or other stakeholders.
How do we encourage people to voice their concerns?
As a first step, staff and contractors are encouraged to report their concerns to the relevant managers or supervisors at their office or industrial site, as they are generally better equipped to resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
They may also contact the persons designated to receive complaints at our offices and industrial sites. These individuals, referred to as Resource Persons, are typically members of the management team. These contacts will treat the reported issue confidentially upon request. Problems can also be reported to them anonymously, for example from an anonymous email address.
If the issue is not resolved or if someone feels uncomfortable using these local channels, they can also report to the ‘Raising Concerns’ programme, our head office program managed in Switzerland.
Glencore takes all concerns seriously, and deals with them quickly using an objective, fact-based approach. The reported problems are investigated either by our head office in Switzerland or locally, depending on their nature and severity. Glencore does not tolerate any form of punishment, discipline or reprisal against anyone who has spoken out or cooperated in an investigation.
Whistleblowing Policy
Our Whistleblowing Policy sets out Glencore’s approach to reporting, escalating, addressing or investigating concerns related to our activities as well as the protections afforded to our staff and partners. It encourages them to report their concerns knowing that they will be taken seriously, that we will treat or investigate them appropriately and respect their privacy.
